When I found this framed magnetic steel board, I knew exactly what to do with it! Only $12.99 at TJ Maxx… not too shabby!
Here is what you will need for this mini-project… paint, brushes, and sponges (YES, that really is all you need)!!!
Choose a color of your choice… and dab away! I wanted my board to be polka dotted, which actually turned out to be the easiest way to go. I also contemplated painting to whole frame a color, and then adding designs… BUT my gut told me dots!
The polka dots did not come out perfect in the sense that ever little crease was not filled with color color. However, I liked this look because it matched the frame itself! First… I wanted yellow.
Then I changed my mind. I wanted blue… I dibble-dabbled with the glitter a bit to see how it would turn out.
I LOVED the glitter and went all out!!!! In the picture it looks silver, but in person it is actually pure silver glitter. (:
So then I became like Mouse in If You Give a Mouse a Cookie because I thought, "Now I need some magnets to go with it!" I already knew what kind of magnets would be just right thanks to Pinterest. I must give credit where credit is due… I got this next idea from Deloop! You will need… E6000 glue, varnish, strong magnets, LOTS of glitter, paint brushes, and glass gems.
This reminded me of my old fish tank at first… not to worry- they will NOT turn out like fish tank stones!
First, you need to put the glitter into bowls. For those of you who don't know what "keshafied" is… you will have to YouTube it. (: My little sister was so kind to have shared such a worldly experience with me- hhaa!!! Begin to brush the glue onto the back (flat side of gems). Dip the gems into the glitter of your choice.
Flip the stones over and let them dry!
Paint them with varnish. Adhere strong magnets with glue… and VOILA! I plan write numbers with permanent marker on each magnet and assign a student to a number. That way I can keep these gorgeous magnets year after year. I am in the process of laminating & adding little labels of our class jobs. Classroom jobs will never look prettier!!!!!
Super cute! Love that magnetic board:) What a find:) Thanks for linking up:))
