Here we go again with Fourth Grade Frolics linky for Monday Made It! I cannot believe how many wonderful comments I received on my last post about the magnetic board and glitter magnets!!!! So YAY to YOU! This week, I am making paper garland to hang in the back of my classroom near my firsties' coat hooks. (:
For this project, you will need…
Colorful scrapbook paper
Glue dots (I highly recommend instead of plain-o glue)
String/ribbon (I used twine)
Round hole punch
Scissors
As you start to look at your paper, think about whether or not they will blend or class together. I bought a pack of patterned paper, which was already bundled together based on its "shabby chic" theme. Go ahead and start hole punching away! You can choose between 5, 6, and 7 circles depending on how you want them to look. I originally did 5 circles, but ended up doing 7. Fold each circle directly in half. Check out Allison Kreft designs to see where I realized this idea could become a reality!
Stick them back to back using whatever version of glue dots you have in stock. Be sure to stick the non-patterened sides of the paper together so the decorative side shows.
When 5, 6, or 7 of the circular halves have been stuck together, place the string in the middle of the "sphere"! This has to be part of the process… it is very hard to try and put the string through the "spheres" after closing them up.
After this, glue the last two halves together! Continue to make more until your string is filled, and you like the spacing between the circular pieces. I like that these little constructions were easily moveable. It was easy to arrange and rearrange how I wanted them to exactly look on the string itself!
And DONE!!! I wish I was closer to my school so I could hang them up right away, but I am excited to add all my Monday Made Its to my classroom eventually. It makes the grand reveal of my classroom decor that much more surprising.
Vey cute!
